Title: Singing Insects of North America (SINA)
Web Site: (buzz.ifas.ufl.edu/index.htm)
This is an excellent web site to visit for any of the singing insects - katydids, crickets and cicadas.
At the moment the katydid section is the most complete. Figures, photographs and record locations and distribution maps are shown for many of the species. Thumbnails are shown when the species information is presented. Clicking on the picture or map will bring up a larger picture. Calls are given for a number of species. If the information on a species of interest is not complete enough for you try the OSOF link on the page. It points to additional information including in some cases some photographs of pinned specimens.
A number of references are available online (the sizes of these files are given for those of us with slow connections).
Note: This is a personal web site and is not affiliated with the National Park Service or Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Contact information for the author, Ron Lyons, is accessible through the Index Page referenced below. Thank you.
