This is a worthwhile reference to have since the Park borders New Mexico. Maps with the New Mexico distribution are shown for many of the species. The maps show the county boundaries and include an indication of the local topography.
There text includes some background information on grasshoppers biology and management. The keys are supplemented with line drawings.
Many of the species are illustrated with color photographs, most of them using pinned specimens. The photographs are perhaps the main weakness of this publication. Many of the specimens are small, the bulk of many photographs is devoted to the background. Perhaps some initial effort was underway to show relative sizes, but from an identification standpoint larger photographs would have been much more desireable.
