Tinkham's Shieldback

    ortho = straight and ptera = wings
Family: Tettigoniidae (long-horned grasshoppers)
    The long horns indicated above are the very long thin antennae.
Subfamily: Tettigoniinae (shield-backed katydids)
Species: Pediodectes tinkhami
Common Name: Tinkham's Shieldback
Date: 2003 August 28
Place: Guadalupe Mountains National Park
    Pine Springs Visitor Center (at lights)

Both sexes of this katydid have conspicuous white bands across their faces.
