By this point, for whatever reason, the green katydid (order Orthoptera) was dead. Ants living around the building were cleaning up the remains - little if anything would be left in the morning. Ants have been the subject of a number of interesting popular books including Holldobler and Wilson's "Journey to the Ants" c 1994 and Gordon's "Ants At Work" c1999.
